Pheasant Preserve

This year we will  be hunting from September 1, 2024 until we run out of birds; but no later than March 31, 2025.   We allow you to hunt either a half day or entire day.  We find that most hunters can only walk about 4 hours, which constitutes a half day of hunting.  We are constantly releasing birds so expect to see more birds than what we release for you during your experience at Sanborn’s Fish Kreek Ranch Preserve.   We have a variety of cover options, and with the dry spring, it is very concentrated this year. The hatch of young chicks was not as heavy as last season but there are a lot of birds on the property.

At the end of the hunt we check to see if the birds that you have taken are wild or released, and we put authorized Montana, Fish, Wildlife and Parks, tags on one leg of each bird so that you can legally transport your birds.

License Required

Montana Residents: You are required to possess a valid current Montana Conservation License, which must include a Bird Endorsement to be able to hunt on a preserve. New Montana licenses are due March 1 of each year.

Non-Montana Residents: Out of state individuals can obtain a 3 Day Preserve License at any participating FWP outlets, however you will need a Conservation License and pay a State Lands Usage.  FWP outlets currently in Whitehall are Ace Hardware, the Corner Store and online.

Bird Game Farm

We are licensed by the State of Montana’s Fish, Wildlife and Parks to raise and sell live birds to other preserves, dog trainer’s, and landowners.  Call for details: 406-490-0641.
